2007–2009       Senior Editor – Sagacity Media Inc.

  • Helping this regional magazine publishing company establish a custom publishing division by implementing editorial standards and processes
  • Managing and executing the editorial vision, assigning, editing, researching, maintaining budgets, and writing for several magazines, including Travel Portland, Lane County Visitor Guide, Washington State Visitor Guide, and the Portland Monthly Health Annual publications

2003–2007       Associate Editor – The Pohly Company

  • Assigning, editing, researching, maintaining editorial budgets, and writing articles for several award-winning publications (Continental – Silver Astrid Award for Best Writing and Pearl Award for Best Overall Editorial, SAM  – Pearl Award for Most Improved Editorial, UAW-GM People  – Silver Astrid Award for Employee Publications) and other highly-regarded magazines such as the DMA’s inMarketing MagazineGeneral Motor’s UAW-GM People, and the ANA’s Advertiser
  • Overseeing the redesign of two publications in 2005 (inMarketing and SAM: Student Advantage Magazine) and supporting redesigns of Continental in 2003 and 2006
  • Supporting on-going new business efforts with research and proofreading

  • Assessing manuscript submissions for organization, quality, and consistency
  • Coordinating the Art, Production, Manufacturing, Operations, and Permissions departments to create custom books on an accelerated publishing schedule
  • Coordinating a roster of as many as five acquisitions editors (and up to thirty titles) and servicing clients that included Adobe Systems, IBM, the U.S. Army, and ITT Technical Institute

2000–2001       Freelance Editor – Harvard University, Mazer Digital Media, and Pearson

  • Reformatting Houghton Mifflin’s books from English to new Spanish versions
  • Redesigning textbooks into interactive websites
  • Creating site demos and style guides for clients and perspective clients

1999–2000       Editor/Designer – Kennard Design

  • Designing, editing, and proofreading ads, identities, and collateral work for clients including Harvard Business School Publishing, Curry College, and John Hancock
